Joseph Kouba first Win at Mighty Axe!

Lonnie Wheatley, BRAINERD, Minn. (August 30, 2008) – Joseph Kouba collected his
first career American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region feature win by
leading the final 15 circuits of Saturday's 25-lap main event to top the opening
night of North Central Speedway's Mighty Axe Nationals.

Lee Grosz and Eric Lutz were the big winners at the 16th annual Earl and Ethel Kouba Memorial Race held Saturday, July 5, 2008 at North Central Speedway. The annual event pays tribute to the couple that spent a lifetime supporting sprint car racing in Minnesota and the upper Midwest.
In addition to the normal payoff for the American Sprint Car Series Northern Plains Region (ASCS-NP), over $3,000 in additional cash and contingencies were presented to the competitors in the night's ASCS-NP racing card at the Brainerd, MN track.
For his efforts, Grosz, the defending ASCS-NP champion and grandson of National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Doug Howells (also his car owner and crew chief), took home just over $2,200. In addition to his win in the Earl Kouba Memorial Feature, the Harwood, North Dakota driver captured the prize money for second place in his heat race; third place in the Dash as well as a special cash award as one of three drivers who had the furthest tow to the track.

Both Joseph Kouba (#55) and Jerry Richert Jr. (piloting the Kouba-Richert Jr. duo's 410 IRA sprinter) headed to Cedar Lake Speedway for the Masters 6/13-14. Jerry Richert Jr. in the #63 coming off of 2 consecutive top-5's with the IRA's looking to keep that streak going! Joseph Kouba #55 qualified 24th. Jerry Richert Jr. qualified with quicktime posting a time of 11.555.

Jerry Richert Jr. took the
#63 to Beaver Dam, WI and Dodge County speedway. Having come off a 4th
place finish at Charter Raceway, looking to continue the top-5's!
Billy Balog would take home the 25 lap A-Main. With Jerry piloting the
#63 to a solid 3rd place finish!

Jerry Richert Jr. took home
a heat win and a great 4th place finish with the IRA's at Charter
Raceway on May 31st! Kertsher out qualified the 35 car field, with heat wins going
to Balog, haeni, Richert Jr. and Mock. Hepfner claimed a very
entertaining twenty car 15 lap B-main!

The 16th Annual Earl & Ethel Kouba Memorial Race Completed Saturday July 5th @ North Central Speedway - Brainerd, MN.
Lee Grosz #4J - took home the coveted 'Earl & Ethel Kouba Memorial Race" trophy and is forever etched into history as the 16th winner with his name engraved onto the plaque of EEK Memorial race winners located in the Sprint Car HOF in Knoxville!
Eric Lutz #5 - took home his second consecutive checkered flag in the Earl & Ethel Kouba Memorial Dash for Cash!
North Central Speedway hosted another great night of sprint car racing! The family would like to
extend special thanks to all the teams, drivers, friends and businesses
that have supported this event over the years, a celebration of the
lives and legacy of Earl and Ethel. And ofcourse a special Thank's to North Central Speedway for hosting the event again!
