Looking to 2010 PDF Print E-mail
2010 apears to be a another great year for Kouba racing. Although it will be without longtime engine builder and friend Loren Woodke. Loren crossed the finish line in October last year after 84 years. He will be missed greatly. Bryan Woodke , his son, will become the "Chief" engine man now and has done and will continue to do a great job for us. Joseph will wheel the #55 again after a good season of moslty top 5 finishes. His best coming a Kopella where he lead the A main for 9 laps before team mate Jerry Richert Jr. passe him on his way to a season high of "SEVEN" wins. Joseph finished 4th in the first ever UMSS season. A personal best point finish for him as well. Anna got her feet wet in her first outing in the #55 back up car. Big brother Joseph's 410 car with a 360 on lone for Woodke Engines. Although the finishes were not stellar she did not spin and a great deal of her fellow drivers gave her a thumbs up for being straight and smooth. I have three races planned for her this year. As mentioned Jerry had a stellar year and our partnership yelded a great 410 year as well with a season best second at the Cedar Lake IRA "Masters". My season was completed as Brooke Tatnell drove the 63 for Jerry and I at the yearly Jerry Richert Sr. Memorial. Sonny had a chance to reunite with Marty Johnson and again wheel the famous 81 car leaveing a seat for brother -in -law Brooke. The  ride was Brookes first in 7weeks after a drive line brakage left him hobbling around on a badly damaged left lower leg. The end result was a victioy for the 63 car , a beautiful trophy to add to my collection and the satisfaction of Sonnys and my car beating some BIG 2 comma teams [ million dollar teams]. The season is three months away and I can't wait!! Later.

Jerry Richert Jr. Wins Kouba Memorial! PDF Print E-mail
Jerry Richert Jr. left little doubt that he was on a mission on Saturday night July 4th at North Central Speedway during the 17th running of the Earl & Ethel Kouba Memorial race for the upstart UMSS sprint car series.  Richert overcame adversity earlier in the evening when a steering problem sidelined him from his heat race, forcing him to start last in the second Challenge race.  Richert finished second in that qualifier and found himself with an outside row two starting spot for the 20 lap Kouba Memorial feature race when high-point driver Brett Geldner drew a number eight for the invert.  A couple laps into the feature race, Richert moved to third, then took second on lap eight before making the winning pass of race leader Lyn Franklin exiting turn two on lap nine.  Richert was able to hold off a late challenge by Sye Anderson to earn his first Kouba Memorial victory and his fifth UMSS main event triumph of the season.
